               Early in 1919 Mr. A. J. Siegel, President of Hutting and Mr. J. Frank Watson, a leading Hutting
               salesman, who had been chosen to head a new branch house, went to Birmingham, Atlanta,
               Jacksonville and Knoxville to survey existing conditions and determine the decisive factors in
               each locality. 

               Birmingham, a rapidly growing industrial city was selected as offering the greatest potential.
               Its huge steel mills earned for that city the sobriquet "Pittsburgh of the South" and there was
               ample evidence of a wide scope of peacetime economy. When the decision was reached, 
               every energy was directed at getting the operation underway.

               The Birmingham Sash & Door Company, a Huttig subsidiary was promptly incorporated.
               Mr. J. Frank Watson was appointed Manager and elected President of the Company; an office
               he held until his death in January, 1951. A studied inspection of available warehouse facilities
               was made forthwith. A building acceptable as to condition, size and locality was prompty
               procured and the latest addition to Birmingham's industrial life opened for business July, 1, 1919. 
               Since opening its doors on July 1, 1919, Birmingham Sash & Door Company has served the
               Birmingham area as the premier provider of millwork products.

               Now owned by the Hendricks Companies, the Birmingham branch continues to provide high-
               quality interior and exterior door units, stair parts, windows and moulding to Birmingham's best
               new home builders and remodelers. In February of 2005, Birmingham Sash & Door joined the
               Hendricks Companies family and has operated under the name of Birmingham Sash and Door
               since that time serving the needs of the professional builder in quality millwork and trim.
